JMU Move In Day

These pictures are a bit out of order.

Derrik and his roommate Ryan. He is also an engineering student.

Derrik & Devin had to say goodbye in the driveway because Devin had already started school so couldn't come with us to help move Derrik into his dorm room.

Derrik sorting through his stuff and trying to decide where to put it all. His roommate, Ryan, didn't show up until we were going out for a lunch run.

When we pulled up at the dorm, we were swarmed with students who carried almost everything up to the room. That made moving in a lot less hassle.

Kay's 41st Birthday

We celebrated Kay's birthday two days early for two reasons. One, she would be gone over her birthday and two, Derrik would be gone also.

First Day of School

Devin is now a junior in high school. His backpack was FULL and HEAVY. Half of his books were already at school in his locker, because we took them on orientation night. Hope he never needs to bring them all home at once! He is taking AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP History, Spanish V, American Literature and Art.

Fair

We went to the fair one evening after work for supper and to see the animals & crafts.

Derrik's arm is taped up after he & Dwayne made a blood donation to the Red Cross.

Corolla

We almost didn't get a long weekend getaway at the beach because everyone who usually vacationed on the gulf coast seemed to have shown up on the Atlantic coast. On the day we were to leave, I finally located a two bedroom house that required a four wheel drive vehicle to get to it. It was a seven mile drive up the beach to the house and it was awesomely quiet and private. There were also wild horses all around.

The boys enjoyed skim boarding.

Gina came with us. We didn't have a bedroom for her, so she got a futon in the living room.

The love birds took lots of long walks.

Rocky loves the beach as much as the rest of us. Can you tell?

Ladder Ball

We had a Sunday afternoon game of ladder ball out in Farley & Margaret Ann's front yard.
