Dwayne Returns From Afar

Dwayne returned safe & sound from his travels. He brought back chocolate from Germany, pakols (hats the boys are wearing) and scarves from Afghanistan and rocks from Iraq. He told us about the weather, landscape, food and not much else.

A New School Year

The boys got hit with homework pretty hard on their first week of school. Devin is now a sophomore.

Derrik is working on his homework, too. He is a SENIOR!

Derrik drove them to school on their first day. That was harder on me than their first day of kindergarten.

Blue Crabs Again

Derrik was out of town for the weekend, so Corbin stayed over with Devin. He enjoyed the crabs, but wished it wasn't storming so we could be at the lake. Instead we were on our friends lovely, screened in porch that they refer to as their crab shack.

We had a rousing game of "Hand & Foot".

Robert, Dwayne's co-worker, bought these blue crabs already cooked.

A fierce group of crab pickers if I ever saw one. We cleaned up a bushel of crabs in no time at all. There were also hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, watermelon & black bottom cupcakes. Mmmm!

Fire Pit

We did hot dogs and s'mores around the fire pit on the patio. Troy & Lori came with their boys Heath & Shane and Darrell & Kay came with Brandy & Corbin.

Fishing Again

We took our friends, Irving & Sandra, out fishing on the Rappahannock in Farley's boat. The men actually caught and kept quite a few fish.

Sandra & I enjoyed sunning ourselves and relaxing.

The first poor little fish to go in the live well.

Rocky had a bone to keep him busy, but he's always happy to be on the boat.

Waiting for a bite.

Family Portraits

We rounded up the troops and got family portraits done. We're now known as the plaid family.
